Academy for the Creative and Performing Arts

The Academy for the Creative and Performing Arts exists to provide the connection between working Christian artists and the next generation. Many creatives have a passion for passing on their creative skills to the next generation. The Oaks Conservatory operates The Academy to facilitate the pressing of creative knowledge into the future.

Primary Ballet and Ballet I

Tuesday - $90/Term with Instructor Ingrid LaVoie - Oct. 2nd 2018 - Nov. 6th

Primary Ballet (grades K-3) Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15pm: Class participants will enjoy an engaging introduction to the basics of ballet. Beginning with basic positions and postures, students will progress to more advanced exercises at the barre and on the floor with an emphasis on the sheer joy of moving to music. Through the use of creative and lively dance exercises, students will grow in their understanding of posture and alignment, musicality, strength, and grace. As dance belongs to God, we will explore what it means to glorify and enjoy our good Creator through this classic art form!

Ballet I (grades 4-6) Tuesdays from 4:15-5:15pm: Students (with or without dance background) will receive an overview of ballet basics and then move into more complex techniques and exercises at the barre and in the centre, adding rhythm and character steps for enjoyment and creative expression. Emphasis will be placed on form, posture, alignment, musicality, strength and grace – all intended to instill a deep appreciation for this classic art form. As dance belongs to God, we will explore what it means to glorify and enjoy our good Creator through dance!

Acting Classes - $135/Term with Instructor Jessica Belisle (Grades 3-6) Monday from 3:15pm-4:45pm - Oct. 1st 2018 - Nov. 5th

Acting (grades 3-6) Mondays from 3:15-4:45pm: In this course the students will learn both acting and theater expectations. They will learn stage directions and vocabulary as well as principles like cheating out, proper projection and enunciation. We will also dive into the core principles of acting by exercising use of face, voice and body expression. This course will be an excellent resource for a student new to theatre as well as students who have some experience they wish to build on!
